Let me tell you a bit about us. Esentia Tours is a small (as in two people! — myself, an expat New York, and Helena, a native of the region)culinary travel agency based in Barcelona, Spain. We specialize in gastronomic and cultural experiences for the discerning traveler who wants to go beyond the norm. Both Helena and I have traveled extensively and lived abroad for many years, so we have very specific ideas of what it means to travel. We believe that one of the best ways to access a truly authentic experience of a culture is through its food. To that end, we create in-house cooking classes with top regional chefs and a variety of onsite workshops.
The essence of our philosophy is authenticity: we want our guests to interact on an intimate level with Catalan culture— with the landscape, local traditions, and individuals. Learning about where food comes from and then learning to cook traditional local dishes yourself is one of the best ways to experience a culture and, at the same time, give back to local communities and help in the preservation of cultural traditions.
Our website is a great resource for anyone interested in gastronomony and culinary travel, or anyone who wants a truly authentic travel experience.
